        LEED-CI
Tambient can help your project qualify for LEED Certification using the Green Building Rating Systems. Based on the LEED-CI rating system for commercial interiors, the contributions shown here may apply. Similar contributions may apply to new buildings and major renovations under the LEED-NC rating system. To learn more, contact us or visit The U.S. Green Building Council at www.usgbc.org.

Optimize Energy Performance – Lighting Power
(1-3 points)

  Intent
Achieve increasing levels of energy conservation beyond the referenced standard to reduce environmental impacts associated with excessive energy use.

Requirement
Reduce connected lighting power density below that allowed by ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2004 to one of these levels:

15% below the standard (1 point)
25% below the standard (2 points)
35% below the standard (3 points)

Tambient Contribution:
Workstation integrated task ambient luminaires can reduce lighting power density in office spaces to 0.6 – 0.8 watts/sf (27% - 45% below the standard using the Space-by-Space method).

Optimize Energy Performance – Lighting Controls
(1 point)

Intent
Achieve increasing levels of energy conservation beyond the prerequisite standard to reduce environmental impacts associated with excessive energy use.

Requirement
Install daylight responsive controls in all regularly occupied spaces within 15 feet of windows and under skylights.

Tambient Contribution:
Tambient luminaires are easily connected to daylight switching controls by plugging them into circuits controlled by a daylight photosensor switch. For daylight responsive dimming, a control network cable connection is available on selected luminaires. Contact Tambient for details.

Materials and Resources

Resource Reuse –
30% Furniture and Furnishings
(1 point)

Intent
Reuse building products and materials in order to reduce demand for virgin materials and reduce waste, thereby reducing impacts associated with the extraction and processing of virgin resources.

Requirement
Use salvaged, refurbished or used furniture and furnishings for 30% of the total furniture and furnishings budget.

Tambient Contribution:
Tambient luminaires are designed for easy removal and relocation from one space to another. They can be refitted with a variety of accessories to adapt to changing workstation configurations and requirements. This significantly reduces the consumption of virgin resources and reduces FF&E budgets for renovation and relocation projects.

Regional Materials –
20% Manufactured Regionally
(1 point)

Intent
Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the regional economy and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation.

Requirement
Use a minimum of 20% of the combined value of construction and Division 12 (furniture and furnishings) materials and products that are manufactured regionally within a radius of 500 miles.

Tambient Contribution:
Contribution depends on the location of the project. Tambient is manufactured in West Haven, CT. Our factory is located within a 500-mile radius of approximately 40% of the U.S. office real estate market.

Indoor Environmental Quality

Controllability of Systems --Lighting
(1 point)

Intent
Provide a high level of lighting system control for individual occupants, and specific groups in multi-occupant spaces (e.g., classrooms and conference areas), to promote the productivity, comfort and well-being of building occupants.

Requirement
Provide lighting controls for:

• At least 90% of occupants,
enabling adjustments to suit
individual task needs and
preferences,

AND

• All shared multi-occupant spaces
where transient groups must
share lighting controls.

Tambient Contribution:
Tambient task-only luminaires are provided with integral on/off switches for individual control. Switches are also available on all Tambient task ambient workstation luminaires.

Note: Where task ambient luminaires are used, consider the impact that individual control may have on other nearby occupants.

Innovation & Design Process
Credits 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4
Innovation in Design
(1-4 points)

Intent
Provide design teams and projects the opportunity to be awarded points for exceptional performance above the requirements set by the LEED Green Building Rating System and/or innovative performance in Green Building categories not specifically addressed by the LEED Green Building Rating System.

Requirement
Identify the intent of the proposed innovation credit, the proposed requirements for compliance, the proposed submittals to demonstrate compliance, and the design approach (strategies) that
might be used to meet the requirements.

Tambient Contribution:
Tambient’s innovative all-in-one task ambient luminaires help reduce lighting power densities beyond the requirements of EA Credit 1.1 without compromising visual comfort. Achieving a lighting power density that is 45% below that allowed by ASHRAE/ IESNA Standard 90.1-2004 will qualify buildings for an additional credit.

Our furniture integrated lighting approach combines task and ambient lighting into a single system. This significantly reduces the material content of the lighting system and the resources consumed to manufacture and put it into service.

Tambient’s furniture mounted lighting approach and innovative products enhance the performance and well being of occupants in spaces with low ceilings. They achieve high-quality indirect ambient lighting in spaces where conventional indirect lighting cannot be installed.
